Dunes Club Tennis

The goal for our tennis staff is to inspire interest and promote participation at all playing levels and for all ages. To reach this goal, the tennis programs offer a wide array of activities for its members. We offer private lessons, group and team clinics, social mixers and special events, USTA tournaments, adult and junior club championships, and USTA League play for all ages and skill levels.

Tennis at the Dunes Club has grown tremendously since its inception in 1970 with hundreds of members, both adults and children, now participating in our programs. Our tennis professionals are some of the top ranked players in the state of South Carolina and each of them are passionate about teaching the game through regular group clinics and private lessons. Over the years, the Tennis Center has grown to include seven clay courts and two hard courts, all of which are lighted for evening play, making tennis in Myrtle Beach a convenient pass-time regardless of your hectic schedule.

Adult Tennis
- Instruction
  
  We offer private, semi-private and “3 & Me” lessons, as well as team clinics and drop in workout clinics for beginners to advanced adults. A ball machine is also available at no charge to members. The adult clinic schedule ranges from 2.0–4.0 and meet at regularly scheduled times each week for 1-1 ½ hours.
  
  Leagues
  
  Adult USTA league teams are offered seasonally and we have multiple teams each season ranging from 2.5-4.5 NTRP levels, both 18+ and 40+ leagues. The Dunes Club organizes teams year round that participate in the USTA Spring League, USTA Summer Mixed Doubles League, USTA Combo Doubles League, USTA Singles Flex League, and USTA Tri-Level League. Please note that leagues are limited to only Full Members and Tennis Members. Social Members and guests will not be eligible to play in tennis leagues.
Junior Tennis
- The Dunes Club offers a Junior Development Program that allows juniors at all levels and all ages to practice year-round. Our experienced staff implements USTA’s Quick Start tennis format for all 11 and under juniors where we emphasize having fun while learning technique correctly. Clinics include cross training/movement activities, skill activities, games, scoring and match play depending on their level. We also offer junior clinics for intermediate school tennis players, and advanced high school tennis and tournament players. Juniors are grouped for clinic instruction by age and skill level.

- Q: How many courts are at The Dunes facility? What surface? Are they lighted?
  A: We have 9 lighted tennis courts with 7 soft composition and 2 hard courts.
  
  Q: Do we need to make court reservations?
  A: Yes, court reservations may be made in person or via phone 7 days in advanced to ensure availability.
  
  Q: Do you have a ball machine? How do we reserve it?
  A: Yes, you can reserve the ball machine with a court reservation.
  
  Q: What is the proper tennis attire?
  A: Only tennis attire may be worn on the courts. Shirts and regulation flat-soled tennis shoes are required. Sports bras for women and tank tops for men may not be worn as an outer garment.
  
  Q: Does the Dunes Club participate in USTA Leagues?
  A: Yes, we offer USTA Spring League, USTA Mixed Doubles, USTA Combo Doubles, USTA Singles Flex, and USTA Winter Tri-Levels League.
  
  Q: How young do you start junior tennis clinics/lessons?
  A: We offer a Mommy and Me clinic for 2.5-3.5 year olds in the summer. We offer clinics for 4-18 year olds during the school year.
  
  Q: Do you string racquets and sell merchandise?
  A: We string racquets and have a full service Tennis Pro Shop that has recently been renovated and stocked with new merchandise.
